The Role

Live and work on the beautiful NSW mid north coast while telling stories that matter to your community.

ABC News is looking for a reporter to join our Coffs Harbour team. Working as part of the Mid North Coast newsroom, you’ll create compelling, audience-focused content across digital, audio and video platforms. This is a dynamic role suited to a journalist who thrives on breaking news, values community connection, and is passionate about regional storytelling.

The Job

  • Produce engaging news content across multiple platforms, including breaking stories, interviews and bulletins.
  • Research, write and present stories that resonate with local and national audiences.
  • Identify and develop story ideas that reflect the diversity of the local community.
  • Build and maintain strong community contacts and contribute to editorial planning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across ABC News to share content and maximise audience reach.
  • Contribute to local emergency coverage and engage directly with audiences in the field.

About You

You’re a motivated journalist who brings curiosity, strong editorial judgement and a passion for storytelling.

You'll have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in journalism, including content creation and live or recorded presentation.
  • Strong editorial skills with the ability to research, analyse and deliver accurate, timely content.
  • A proven ability to build relationships and generate stories that reflect diverse communities.
